Lucy Activewear: Review – Workout Clothing

Representatives from Lucy Activewear, a clothing company that specializes in running and fitness, contacted me to discuss partnering with them for a Lucy Activewear Review. I was able to review a pair of their leggings as part of the experience.

This clothing line was created for runners as well as yogis. The North Face acquired the company in 2018. However, many athletes still love to purchase and wear Lucy clothing. Today, the clothing can be purchased on Apps like Poshmark.

Lucy Activewear Review

Lucy Activewear offers high-quality, athletic clothing for women. They are great for runners and yogis, as well as casual wear.

My Lucy Activewear pieces have been in great shape for many years. After writing this review, I bought and owned other Lucy Activewear clothing items.

These purchases included a long-sleeved outdoor running top, two pairs of running pants, and several yoga crops. Their clothing is high quality, durable and long-lasting according to my experience.

What happened to Lucy Activewear?

The North Face Acquires Lucy

It was a sad news to hear that Lucy Activewear is closing. This announcement was made in December 2017. This was announced by Lucy Activewear in December 2017.

All remaining stores were closed on January 18, 2018. The North Face had Lucy Activewear products on their website at that time. It was apparent that the brand had been completely absorbed by The North Face as well as names of some of Lucy’s clothing items.

Lucy Activewear was established in 1999. The company operated approximately 60 stores across the country and had a strong online presence before they closed. Many of their garments feature either the Lucy name or an embroidered bright orange tab.

Where can I buy Lucy Activewear?

This is the bad news. The good news is that if you’re a Lucy fan or are new to the brand, you can still purchase their clothing online via apps like Poshmark.

Poshmark has many new items with tag Lucy for sale (also known as deadstock, items that have been found recently or kept in someone’s wardrobe but never worn). Many gently used secondhand garments. The Lucy garment is usually based on its original name.

Lucy is still very popular with shoppers who want to buy specific items. All Lucy products I’ve owned were very durable and high quality, as I mentioned.

This review was updated because Lucy clothing is still in demand. Because of the loyal following Lucy clothing enjoys, this review has been a favorite post on my blog for years.

Lucy Activewear Mission Lucy Leggings Review

I had some information about their products that I wanted to save before the company acquisition.

“Yoga. Training. Running. Explore. No matter what activity you choose, lucy wants to make you look and feel great. Because we believe that fitness should be fashionable, we designed workout clothes, including yoga pants, yoga tops, running apparel and hoodies. All day, women live in lucy. With your entire life in mind, we make workout clothes.”

Lucy Cut for me Leggings

The quality of the Lucy Activewear item that I received was excellent. The Lucy Cut for Me Legging was sent to me. Here is the description of that item from their website:

The Cut For Me Legging has flat-locked seams with trim lines that allow you to tailor the legging to fit your leg length. It also features the slimming, moisture-wicking power of lucy powermax(tm). For high-intensity sports, this legging is perfect for you.

  • Style

You can see me in one of my yoga tops and the Lucy Legging in these photos. This was a great fit. The Lucy Cut for Me Leggings were trendy and stylish, as I reviewed in my Lucy Activewear review. The legging was so popular that it has remained in fashion for many years.

It was also great to have a purple accent at the ankles. These pants were great for yoga and running outdoors. The waistband was also a nice touch. The leg featured the bright orange Lucy embroidered logo, and the back of the upper belt had the Lucy logo. Flatlock seams reduce chafing, as is the case with many Lucy clothing items.

Lucy Workout Pants

  • Fit/Comfort

The waistband is double-thick and has a small pocket. The extra thickness provided support for the top, and I didn’t have to worry about muffin tops. It’s a win-win situation. I found that this pant, along with the thick waistband, fit me well after having my baby.

Because I am petite, I was concerned that the pants would be too long. They were actually too short for me so I cut them down. However, as you can see, they still fit me. Since then, I learned that leggings and Lucy yoga pants are often cut shorter by petite women.

This is the first time I have done it, except with the Lucy pant. This is how the pant’s ankle looks after it has been cut. The pant looked great with my purple top! These pant were a small size and fit perfectly in my Lucy sportswear.

Lucy Activewear Pants

  • Function/Quality

These pants were worn and washed many times from the Lucy athletic wear collection. They have held up well to cold water washings with sport detergent. After cutting the cuffs with scissors, I was concerned that they might fray. But they didn’t.

As I mentioned in my Lucy brand clothing blog post at the beginning, this pant was my first purchase in 2012. I still wore it after having my daughter in 2015. Lucy clothing is durable. They lasted for over four years, and I was able to wear them for several races. Outdoor running was made easy by the thick fabric.

I did notice some pilling in the inner thigh of the pant, but it was not too bad considering how much I wore them. These pants are a must-have item that I would buy again. The cuffs were never ripped after they were cut.
