How to repair a down or nylon “Sam jacket”?

Do you have feathers coming out of your down jacket? Do you need to repair a hole in your puffy jacket? There is an easy way to fix holes, tears and rips in your down or nylon sam jacket and ski pants. You can easily repair waterproof garments, from GORE-TEX rainwear and The North Face(r), parkas, without changing their style or appearance. You will only need some nylon repair tape in clear or black or gear patches.

SAM JACKET WASH & DRY

PEEL-AND-STICK PATCH REPAIR

To remove dirt and oils, clean the area with isopropyl Alcohol. Remove any feathers or threads that are loose.

The backing of a Tenacious Tape Mini Patch/Gear Patch can be removed and applied over any rips, tears, or holes. The patch should be 0.5 inches (12 mm) larger than the tear in all directions.

From the center, apply pressure. Smoothen any bubbles and ensure that the edges are flat.

Before you wash the gear after repairing it, allow at least 24 hours for the Tenacious Tape to fully adhere before you wash it.

The iron should be set to medium heat or permanent press heat. To heat evenly, use moderate pressure and a circular motion for VINYL PANTS about 30 seconds.
